Worth a read – Review and Analysis of Post Installation Pipe Defects

CCTV SRCP minor joint displacement Grade 2

Hush Al-Saleem (Independent Contractor/ ProjectMax), presented a paper at Stormwater NZ 2025 on the analysis of CCTV inspections from more than 220 projects.   Interestingly a very low percentage of observed defects were found to be non-compliant and necessitating repair or replacement of pipes.

Hush is a seasoned engineer in our industry, with a wealth of knowledge, having worked for a CPAA member company and participated in CPAA activities in the past.

It is a good read for anyone in our industry who has had to review CCTV footage in relation to identified defects, provides insights into the causes and determining the significance in relation to structural capacity and durability.

The paper discusses a structured assessment methodology developed by the authors.

Hush has agreed to present a webinar on his paper for the CPAA and the installed defect methodology the authors have established.
